October 10th

Rachel has to make an edible sculpture for one of her art classes.  She decided to make sushi.

First, she made rice krispy treats, and put them in a very shallow baking pan, so they would be thin.  Then, she made some fondant: some was used to make "cream cheese" and some to make a bowl to hold the wasabi and soy sauce.  Then we made some buttercream icing.  Colored it a dark green - almost black for the sea weed.  We used red licorice and green licorice, and also orange gel candy - all for the filing of the sushi.

Here Rachel is kneading the fondant

Dessert Sushi!  They are about 6x normal size!

The bowl on the left has "wasabi" in it, and the bowl on the right will have chocolate syrup to represent soy sauce.

FABULOUS job Rachel!!!

I hate sushi so this is a great compromise for me! I'll take a roll! :-)
